The legendary gumiho, or nine-tailed fox, Goo San Daek, abandons her husband after his betrayal robs her of her shapeshifting abilities. She flees with her nine-year-old daughter, Yeon Yi, who has yet to develop her own gumiho powers, to a secluded village for safety.
